Good Cause Gifts, a model for social enterprise, was founded in 2009 by a dedicated group of parents from Berlin, CT who were seeking ways for their family members with a disability to contribute to their community.

Today, Good Cause Gifts employs over 20 individuals with disabilities as sales associates across two attractive gift shop locations – one in the heart of Berlin and the other at New Britain’s Hospital for Special Care. Sales associates earn competitive wages while learning the skills necessary for employment in retail settings.

Both stores offer a unique array of fine gifts, clothing and accessories. Our flagship store in Berlin is the proud recipient Best Gift Shop, Best Children’s Store, and Best Women’s Clothing in The Berlin Citizen’s Best Of … Awards 2017! Good Cause Gifts was also recognized as the 2017 Non-Profit Organization of the Year by both the Town of Berlin and the State of CT.

Where does the revenue from Good Cause Gifts go?

Revenue generated by Good Cause Gifts is used to support employment opportunities.

Are the items you sell second hand or crafts made by the individuals you serve? What types of items do you carry?

All items sold at Good Cause Gifts are new. Good Cause Gifts staffs a full time buyer/store manager who searches locally, nationally, and globally for fine gifts, accessories, and fair trade items including local pottery, jewelry, and furniture. Popular brands and items in the store include: UGG Accessories, Stonewall Kitchen products, costume and sterling silver jewelry, scarves, home accessories, and holiday items. Looking for something special? Just ask! If we do not have it we may be able to get it for you.

Good Cause Gifts is a Social Enterprise. What exactly does that mean?

A Social Enterprise is an organization whose goal is to solve community problems through business. It is a hybrid between the traditional for-profit business model and the non-profit model. The core values of social enterprises include: social responsibility, fair and equitable compensation, commitment to local jobs and positive social impact. Balancing people, purpose, place and profits is paramount.

Do you ship?

We are happy to ship for a small charge or within 10 miles we will deliver in our company van with a minimum purchase of $50.00

Do you do gift baskets?

We do! Stop in or call us and we will arrange the perfect gift basket for any occasion

Our Berlin location:
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 10am – 5pm
Thursday 10am – 7pm
Saturday 10am – 4pm

Our Hospital for Special Care location:
Monday – Wednesday 10am – 5pm
Thursday and Friday 10am – 7pm
Saturday 12-3

We will have extended holiday hours starting after Thanksgiving

Do you gift wrap?

Yes! We provide gift wrapping in a lovely gift bag with tissue. Additionally, at Christmas we provide holiday gift wrapping.
