The Kitchen at Futures Inc.

We believe that learning to craft a beautiful treat requires the same skills needed to craft a rewarding life – a positive attitude, a plan and attention to detail.

We are not just shaping pastry, we are shaping Futures!

Training in Food Preparation

Safe Food Handling Practices

Food Service Skills

We strongly believe that this program will increase the likelihood that participants will obtain competitive employment in the food service industry and be able to live a safe, healthy and productive lifestyle with increased independence.

As an example, The Kitchen recently launched its Baking Boot Camp where our chefs in training are busy making Good Paws Biscuits, granola, pies, and other delicious treats for their catering business and to sell at local Farmer’s Markets.

By networking with local food service businesses, we will be able to promote the value of employing people with disabilities and create new community-based employment opportunities.

The Kitchen FAQs

Where can I purchase items made in The Kitchen at Futures? Do you have a retail shop?

At this time, we do not have a retail shop where customers can stop by.  In the summer months, we sell fresh baked goods at the Glastonbury Farmer’s Market (Wednesdays 4-7pm on Hubbard Green) and at the North End Middletown Farmer’s Market (Fridays 11-2pm in front of It’s Only Natural Market on Main Street.)  Our dog biscuits are available at Good Cause Gifts in Berlin and Heirloom Market in Wethersfield.

Year-round, we take special orders for all kinds of celebration cakes, cupcakes, breakfast pastries, cookies, and a variety of savory items for cocktail parties, receptions, and dinner parties.  We also have regular “Pop-up Bakeshop” events which are advertised through our email list and Facebook. Please let us know if you’d like to be added to our list.

Do you have a set menu from which I can place an order?
